Session Description:
Please join the Barker Adoption Foundation as we host Dr. Jessica Brown for this important training that will help promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in public child welfare work. During this workshop, Dr. Brown will:
- Share an overview of the impact of generational trauma and race-related stress in minoritized communities
- Explain physiological components of generational and race-related trauma and how this impacts regulation systems, and family dynamics
- Explore ways to identify and respond to generational trauma in healthy ways
About Our Trainer:
Dr. Jessica Young Brown is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in private practice and provides education and consultation to churches and community organizations on mental health, trauma, race and racism, and organizational dynamics. In her clinical practice, Dr. Brown focuses on women’s issues and relational concerns, and spiritual integration. She has a focus on training mental health professionals and agencies on the impact of racism and race-related trauma, as well as shifting organizational dynamics and agency policies to support a more inclusive culture.
