More About The Program
Monthly virtually on the following dates:
August 18, September 15, October 6, November 10, and December 8 from 7 to 8:30 PM ET.
This closed group provides support and skills training to help families gain insight into the developmental factors affecting behavior and learn effective intervention strategies to create positive changes in their child's behavior. Families will also have the opportunity to hear from other parents who have been there and done that, hear from professionals working with adopted teens for over 20 years, and join a supportive adoption community.
The group will focus on the challenges of parenting and will include practical strategies and support on:
• Information on the emotional and behavioral challenges your teen may face
• How to respond to your teen's behavior from a trauma-informed attachment-based perspective
• Resilience-building and self-care strategies for parents
• Peer-to-peer support from other adoptive parents who have been on a similar journey
Families will have the most success with their unique plan if both parents attend (if you are a two-parent family) and if you attend every session.
Space is limited. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact the program's facilitator, Cynthia Cubbage, via email at ccubbage [at] barkerfoundation.org or call our office at 301-664-9664.
