This Group is open to anyone who has placed a child for adoption or is considering making an adoption plan. The purpose of the group is to provide a place where birth parents can talk about their experiences, and share their feelings and thoughts with others who have made the same decision. The group is facilitated by a Barker staff social worker.
The National Training and Development Curriculum (NTDC) is a nationally recognized, evidence-based program that prepares you for the lifelong journey of adoption. Join us to explore the various adoption pathways available, including both domestic and international adoption, post-adoption services, community resources, and the many ways Barker supports families at every stage of the adoption journey. BARKER S.T.A.R.S. parent and kids workshops will help provide you and your child with the skills, language, and confidence on how your unique family can tackle uncomfortable/invasive questions and comments about adoption. It is also a great opportunity for adopted kids to meet others who are adopted. Adopted children in grades 2-5th grade to have the chance to talk and process their feelings about adoption in a safe, age-appropriate way.
